Robert's Agent

looking for new agent.

After finishing school in Singapore I returned to the UK joined the forces and was in the music business up to 1979 when I returned to family home in Kinlochleven, Scotland to work in the aluminium industry mainly in high purity special advanced metals for innovation new products. After the Kinlochleven aluminium smelter closed I worked mainly in tourism between my self employment. I have over 30 years experience in the tourism industry and over 25 years experience in environmental and waste management. I now focus full time self employed in film and television and biodiesel production.

Living in one of the most scenic areas of the world The Highlands of Scotland is the ideal location to expand my film and television business. The Highlands of Scotland has much to offer the film world and after my experience on BBC "Monarch of the Glen" set, that I miss, I will continue to build my film and television business and work with the global film industry and expand my biodiesel-energy business.

 Music

My involvement in the music business was sound engineering, building valve amplifiers out of old valve TV's and other valve equipment for bands, song writing and recording using two cassette recorders to superimpose I cut a disc single in 1975 about Campbeltown, Scotland got stage fright auditioning in Glasgow's Tiffanies for TV music programme opportunity knocks in front of opportunity knocks host Hughie Green. I have always been close to the music business knowing and meeting many in the music industry including members of Paul McCartney's band, Sir Jimmy Seville and in 2008 ozzy band member John T Sinclair, John now teaches young musicians through Rock School that I support. I left the music business in 1977, the good old 70's wild days will remain in memory for the rest of my life and one day I plan to return to the music business promoting promising musicians and giving them hope in a business I was lucky to get into and enjoy.

 Invention

I achieved a patent for a one 100% aluminium automobile steering column without any help. Worked with inventor James Dyson and other inventors to have the patent law changed so inventors had the same rights as the music industry more protection for individual inventors against large industry and patent renewal costs.

 Aluminium & Recycling

I worked in Kinlochleven aluminium smelter joining the aluminium federation and recycling aluminium drinks cans across Scotland with food supermarket group WM Low's that was based in Dundee Scotland until the company sold out to Tesco's. Recycling involvement was from cans to aircraft until 1998. I worked on jobs such as the recovery and disposal of Lockerbie Jumbo jet flight 103 and Aircraft hangers some of the larger jobs. I recycled drink cans for nine year that raised lots of money for community groups, village halls, schools etc across Scotland.

TV broadcasting 1999 - 2000 I worked at Sky TV customer services/ Technical advice call centre in Dunfermline Scotland, and trained on installations.

Film Business it's 2005 and crofting is in the media spotlight and I get my first dream break to become a film extra on the BBC drama TV programme "Monarch of the Glen"  I play a crofter in the final series 7 ep 6 who has meetings with other crofters that leads to a community buyout announcement at Glenbogal church (Location North of Roy Bridge on A86)  this announcement saves Glenbogal estate and the Macdonald family and crofters live on forever. Within weeks after the Monarch set had left Monarch country I received a call to return for filming of  film title "The Queen" where I play an estate worker (in the far background). I started writing screenplays in 2005 and working in Monarch country lead me to write "Crofters of the Highlands" that is aimed at being an off-spin of "Monarch of the Glen". Global film production companies filming in the UK are realising the large cost savings my biodiesel energy business offers.

Biodiesel - Energy

I went into the biodiesel energy business in 2008 to power my businesses and help other businesses reduce waste and energy costs. The business is doing very well especially in the recession helping save businesses One of the biggest cost savings to me is transport and electricity in my film and television work a big boost as I am located in remote Highlands of Scotland.

Voluntary work and fund raising

27 June 2008 I go Back to Monach of the Glen location Adverikie Estate to raise money for Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team finishing The Momarch march of 21 miles.

New challenges is something I love and I soon realised there was great money in land and I wanted to help the community of Kinlochleven, so I worked with local agencies did voluntary work joined community groups before becoming involved in an organisation called "Association of community enterprises Highland & Islands" (ACE-HI) where I worked with some of the most respected people throughout the Highlands & Islands of Scotland this lead to the formation of "Kinlochleven community company (KCC)" that the people of Kinlochleven approached with caution, after all from the day Kinlochleven was born from a croft to factory so the story goes the people of Kinlochleven never needed or had to learn about community companies (community enterprises) as for other communities throughout the Highlands & Islands community enterprise just happened as a way of life and in most cases was the only way for Highland communities to survive, so ACE-HI was born from this way of life but it was not for Kinlochleven, the community company folded in a very short time but I was not giving up hope I knew that a community company was best for the future of Kinlochleven so I went back to ACE-HI officials for a crunch meeting to try to get a 2nd funding package together to re-form Kinlochleven community company with success and there was a lot more local support however some years later KCC again folded and today (year 2005) acres of land in and around Kinlochleven that the community was offered control of remains with the aluminium company, I was not involved on the Kinlochleven community company board due to ACE-HI commitments.
